　ファクサ湾は、伝統的には、湾岸で営まれる漁業の好漁場だった。現在も、湾岸に漁港は少なくないが、これらを基地にしている漁船は、湾内ではなく外洋を漁場にしている。

//Reykjav?k with Faxafl?iJust north of Reykjav?k in Kollafj?r?ur is the small island Vi?ey. It has been inhabited since 1943 but a former settlement has been proven from the 10th century onwards. During the 12th century a chapel was constructed, and a monastery was founded in 1225, existing till the final assertion of reformation by the end of the 16th century. The island and the remains of the settlement can be visited by taking a ferry from Reykjav?k harbour.
