　宇宙での冒険をテーマにした世界設定。既存のさまざまな世界設定を内包したものだったが、3版ではそれが無くなり、さまざまな文化を持つ惑星が存在するひとつの宇宙観となっている。

:Crystal Shells(天球):Crystal Spheresとも。Spelljammerの世界には、恒星系の外殻としてCrystal Shellsという破壊できない黒い物質でできたものが存在している。大きさと形状は星系の倍ほどある球状が一般的で、Crystal Shellsの外はrainbow ocean of phlogiston(万色なる燃素の海)が他のCrystal Shellsとの間に広がっている。呪文などを用いてCrystal Shellsの外へ出て、別のCrystal Shellsへ移動することも可能である。

:The Phlogiston(燃素):Crystal Shellsの外にあるrainbow ocean of phlogistonを満たす物質。さまざまな色彩を持ち、非常に可燃性が高い。Phlogistonで満たされた空間においては、重力場がJammershipの中枢に向けて形成される。

:Wildspace(宇宙空間):Crystal Shellsの中にあり、数々のCelestial Body(天体)が浮かぶ空間。現実世界の宇宙と同じように、重力は微弱、真空という環境である。
